Edited on 2026-06-02: One of the co-authors of a previous paper got in touch shortly after this preprint was put online to point out I had missed that the result was already published. This lead to the 2nd version of this preprint where we concentrate on the mutation aspect (which is novel).

Introspection dynamics is a nice population dynamic that was originally formulated in 2022. In this paper Harry, Sebastian and I describe how for some games (which we call "state independent") it can be decomposed allow for an explicit formula for the steady state probabilities.
What is nice about this is that it work for heterogeneous players. Allow for the probability of cooperation in very large and very different populations to be computed easily (\(O(N)\)).
