About the class

I make these notes available with the intent of making it easier to plan and/or take notes from class.

I will be using the School discord server to duplicate class communication.

I realise that some of you are no doubt still deciding whether or not you
will choose the Game Theory this Semester. During our first class
I will hopefully answer any questions you have but please don't hesitate to
use the chat if there's anything you'd like to know as you choose your
modules.

Duration: 50 minutes

Objectives

  • Outline timetable and approach to class.
  • Discuss feedback from previous years.
  • Make students aware of learning resources available to them.
  • Make students aware of assessment criteria
  • Make students aware of coding aspect of course (both in assessment and in content)
  • Introduce games.

Activity (20 minutes)

Play the dollar auction game (with £5).

Top two bidders pay, winner gets to keep the £5.

Talk about strategy (briefly!), detail that we will do things like this every class: first 20 minutes will be an activity and the second will be a discussion of theory. Sometimes we will not finish the discussion.

In class we will work in parallel to the notes but not directly following them. You will be expected to play an active role in your learning:
